They were written in a way, that the meaning applies from both the bride's and the groom's perspective simultaneously as their two heart's, lives and selves become one. The title and hook of the song completes itself with the two words most associated with weddings... "I do". Once you listen, you will understand.
Of course it also be performed anytime and anywhere.
