Photo Montage - Instructions

These instructions apply mainly to photographs. For Slides/Digital Media simply indicate the order or sequence in which you would the images to appear.

Portrait
(Vertical)

Landscape
(Horizontal)

Photos come in many sizes and shapes. The most common are portrait (vertical) and landscape (horizontal-rectangle).
Televisions and computer screens are designed in a landscape configuration. We can work from any size you have, no matter what the condition.

First organize and number your photos in the order you would like them to appear in your production. To indicate the sequence lightly number each photo in pencil (ink or marker may bleed) being careful not to press hard as the markings can push or show through on the image side. Do not use "post it notes" because they tent to fall off.
If some of your photos are in a album/book etc. and they can not not be removed, then post it notes are fine.

Back of Photo

TIP: Many like to put their pictures in chronological order and group them together with a song that was popular at the time. i.e. Pictures from the 40's - a Sinatra song, the 50's - Elvis, etc.

It is helpful to put each group of pictures into their own envelope to keep them organized and indicate on the envelope which song to match them with. (See music below)

Title Page...
You can insert title pages any where in your production. Just indicate which picture the title page goes in front of - or on top of - (overlay). *Note: Info must be provided in digital form;email, word doc. etc. along with hard copy*

Photo Placement...

Portrait (Vertical)	Landscape (Horizontal)	Normal: We fit your photo to the screen size without borders. Landscape-sized photos are basically the same size so the majority of the image area fits on the screen. Portrait-sized photos, however, are long and narrow so we frame the primary image area to be shown on the screen
Normal (requires no additional marks - just numbers)

Options:

Zoom/Crop, Full & Pan adjustments $1.00ea.
If necessary after each number, mark photos with the following symbols:
“Z” for zoom/crop (ie. 1-Z)
“F” for full picture framed on screen with borders (ie. 2-F)
“P” to pan picture full screen from bottom to top (ie. 3-P)
A number without a letter symbol will be treated as a normal configuration. (ie. 1)

Z - Zoom / Crop

Zoom / Crop: Using any photo, you can indicate the subject area that you would like shown on the screen. It is helpful to make a photo copy of the photo and draw lines indicating the “landscape or horizontal” rectangle cropped image area.
We often slowly zoom in or out of this area creating a more interesting final production.

F - Full (complete photo on screen)

Full: Portrait or squared photos that need the entire image area to be shown require a border on the left and right side of the image area.
The background on each side will be black.

P - Pan ( photo moves down on screen)

Pan: In order to fill the screen, a portrait-sized photo can be “panned” (moving camera to scan picture from the bottom of the photo to the top). This eliminates the need for borders and adds a nice movement effect to your production.

Music...

Finally, select the music pieces to go with your production. We suggest you choose songs that mean something special or were popular at the time your pictures were taken. We will fit the music to match the production length. Bring in CD's and indicate which song (CD name, song name and track id #) that corresponds with either the groups of pictures you have organized or just the order of the songs for your production. See the pricing table above for approximate number of songs needed for your production.
Song segment cueing $5.00 ea. (Applies when using a specified segment of a song).

Video...

You can also add video clips from your VCR, Camcorder or DVD's. Simply cue the tapes to the spot you want to transfer and and indicate how many minutes to transfer.
If you have multiple clips on one tape additional instructions will be necessary.
Insert video footage $6.00 per minute. ($18.00 minimum charge)
